Kothagudem airport issue taken up with Centre

The long-pending demand seeking air connectivity to Kothagudem received a major boost with the Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao taking up the proposal with Union Minister for Civil Aviation Ashok Gajapathi Raju.
After writing a letter in this regard to the Union Minister a few months ago, the Chief Minister accompanied by the Parliamentary Secretary (Chief Minister’s Office) Jalagam Venkat Rao, who is also the the Kothagudem MLA, represented the matter to the Union Minister in New Delhi two days ago.
Although the officials concerned have earlier examined land measuring 500 acres for the proposed airport near Garimellapadu in Kothagudem mandal seven years ago, their efforts could not fructify due to some technical reasons.
