DoNER plan to boost NE air connectivity

In the face of protests over poor air connectivity in the region, the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER) is likely to convene an inter-ministerial meeting with the Ministry of Civil Aviation to address the problem.
Union Minister of State of (DoNER) Dr Jitendra Singh said an inter-ministerial meeting is being contemplated with the Union Ministry of Civil Aviation to address the most widely felt problem of poor air connectivity in the region, particularly in the backdrop of rail network and road highways.
An inter-ministerial meeting was held two weeks back with the Union Ministry of Tourism. A Standing Committee of the two Ministries has been constituted to work out various means of attracting tourists, filmmakers and holiday seekers to the North Eastern region, which will generate immense opportunities for job and revenue generation.
