SpiceJet for the second time delays salaries to its staff

Low-cost carrier SpiceJet has for the second time delayed salaries to its staff in December, even as it waits for a life-saving fund infusion.

The civil aviation ministry had last month directed SpiceJet to clear all salaries by the 7th of each month starting December.

But two employees at the airline confirmed that they haven't got their December salary. "The management wrote to us earlier this week saying our salaries will come in three tranches — on the 10th,15th and 20 of this month — starting from the lowest rung of employees."

The airline's chief operating officer Sanjiv Kapoor didn't respond to a text message till the time of going to press.
