Vistara may get Air Operating Permit this week

As per a TOI report, the Tata Sons-Singapore Airlines joint venture full-service airline, Vistara, may get the final nod to fly as early as this week and start flying early next year. The joint venture has cleared the last hurdle in the long-licencing process by completing its route-proving flights.

Phee Teik Yeoh, CEO, Vistara, said, "We are glad to confirm that we have concluded our proving flights schedule. This was the last and final milestone to be crossed. We now await to receive the AOP (Air Operating Permit) to announce our operations. We are thankful to the DGCA for all their support during the entire process."

Vistara, which will be India's third full service airline after Air India and Jet Airways, has two Airbus A-320s in its fleet and will be getting another one shortly.

In the first year, it will have 87 weekly flights from Delhi to nine cities, including Mumbai, Goa, Benglauru, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, Srinagar and Patna. The weekly flights are projected to rise to over 300 in the fourth year, and the number of destination cities in India will grow every year in a phased manner. (Source: TOI)
