Raju acts tough on rights to Gulf carriers

Signalling a sea change from UPA's generous response to flying right requests from Gulf carriers, the Ashok Gajapathi Raju-led aviation ministry has adopted a tough stance to protect the interest of Indian carriers. Raju has rejected demand from Ras al-Khaimah, an Emirate and a member of UAE, to designate some other Emirate airline as its airline and give it the flying rights to India. Apart from Ras al-Khaimah, Raju has also turned down the request from several international airlines.
