Vistara registers 80% growth in passengers load in first four month of this year

Vistara today said that they have registered a year-on-year growth of 80 per cent in passengers flown during the first four month of the 2017 calendar year.  Vistara flew 1.15 million passengers between January and April 2017, compared to 640,000 during the same period the previous year, on the back of a fleet increase by 44 per cent during the period.  "The improved performance was driven by higher utilisation of aircraft compared to the same period last year, coupled with a 7 percentage point increase in its average load factors from 75 per cent to 82 per cent. The number of destinations flown increased by 46 per cent, from 13 to 19," the airline said in a release.  "Vistara has aggressively ramped up its network and aircraft utilisation in the last one year, and has also focused on filling its planes through a combination of attractive fares especially for those willing to plan and book in advance, along with improved network and superior customer exper

Vistara may place order for around 100 aircraft by June: CAPA

Domestic full service airline Vistara is likely to place order for around 100 aircraft, including 50 wide-body planes by the end of the current quarter, according to an industry report.  The Centre for Asia Pacific (CAPA), the Sydney-based aviation think-tank, in its report titled "Global Fleet and Financing Review 2017," also said that the airline is likely to opt for Boeing 777X for long haul operations.  Vistara is a joint venture, in which Tata Sons owns 51 per cent stake and the rest is with Singapore Airlines.  "Vistara is expected to be the next carrier to place a major order, of up to 100 aircraft before June, 2017, comprised of 50 narrow-bodies and 50 wide-bodies," CAPA said in its report today.  This assumes significance in the backdrop of Vistara mulling launching international operations from mid 2018.  The airline is expected to stick with Airbus for single-aisel equipment and is likely to opt for the 777X for long haul operatio

Jet Airways announces 24th anniversary sale, offering 24% discount on base fare

To commemorate its 24th anniversary, Jet Airways today announced a special anniversary sale under which the airline is offering flat discount of 24 percent on base fare for both economy and premiere guests travelling on international routes.  This one-day offer will be available tomorrow, i.e. May 05. It is applicable on all destinations on the airlines' international network. For guests travelling domestic, an identical offer is applicable to everyone travelling economy on select sectors of its 45 domestic destinations.  The special fares will be valid only for individual bookings for travel on direct flights on Jet Airways' domestic and international network. Available on a first come-first serve basis, bookings for travel can be made across all channels.  Reservations made under the offer will have a travel validity with effect from June 16, 2017 and bookings made under the offer cannot be combined with any other offer/promotion, Jet Airways said in a press

India's first no-fly rules are out: 3 months to life-time ban for unruly passengers

India  proposes ban between two months and life-time ban for unruly passengers in domestic flights in the country.  "We have categorised unruly passengers under three levels and the quantum of flying ban will range between three months and two years and beyond, which would also include a life-time ban," said aviation secretary R N Choubey.  The  no-fly list , announced by the aviation ministry today, also provides an appeal provision for passengers.  According to the proposed norm, every airline will have to form a three-member standing committee to look into the complaint filed by the crew and a decision on the ban should be taken within ten days of the filing of the complaint. AirAsia India is offering tickets under 'Holidays Sale' with prices as low as  R s. s 1,498. The  Rs  1,498 offer AirAsia India offer can be availed on the Guwahati-Imphal route. The AirAsia promotional offer ends on May 14 and available on advance booking. The special fares are not available during embargo period. The tickets under the sale are valid for travel period between May 1 and October 31. A search on the AirAsia India's website showed that the  R s 1,498 fare for the end-May period on Guwahati-Imphal route. The airline, however, did not disclose the number of seats to be sold under the sale.
