US agency keen to set up Aviation City near Vizag

A US trade delegation has outlined its interest in setting up an Aviation City close to the port city of Visakhapatam in Andhra Pradesh.
Such an intent was expressed by a touring delegation headed by a representative from US Trade Development Agency representative Henry Steingass, Regional Director, South and Southeast Asia.
During the meeting with State Chief Minister N Chandarababu Naidu, he outlined that such an aviation park would require about 1,000 acres to facilitate setting up of manufacture units in the sector. This project would also require a 1,000 MW micro-grid to power its requirements.
The delegation also evinced interest in taking part in the Visakhapatnam-Chennai industrial corridor and development of the Vizag as a Smart City.
Naidu said that it was proposed to create a signature tower, convention centre, commercial malls and other infrastructure aimed at changing the face of the city.
He told them the land pooling process for setting up a new capital was successful. Most of the infrastructure will be developed by offering them under Public-Private Participation (PPP) mode, Build, Operate and Transfer (BOT) mode and by creation of special purpose vehicles.
